For the turkey burgers:

  • lbs. ground turkey
  • ½ cup canned diced green chiles, drained & rinsed (mild or hot depending on how spicy you want them)
  • cup red onion
  • ¾ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (omit if you don't want it spicy)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onion

For the guacamole:

  • 1 large avocado,
  • 2 Tbsps tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp green onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tsps lemon juice
  • Garlic salt, to taste
  • Sprinkle of chili powder

To make guacamole:

  • Mash the avocado and place it in a bowl. Mix in all the other ingredients. (For the garlic salt and chili powder, make sure to add them in gradually and taste the guacamole as you go until you reach your desired flavor/spice level.)

To make turkey burgers:

  • Add all ingredients in a bowl and mix until they're fully combined. Form the ground turkey mixture into 5 (.33lb) patties.
  • Place a pan on the stove and heat it over medium high heat. Once the pan is hot to the touch, spray it with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Place the patties in the pan and cook for 3-5 minutes per side (or until it's cooked to 165 degrees when measured with a meat thermometer).
  • If using cheese, place one cheese slice on each patty after it's done cooking and cover the pan for 1 minute. Then uncover it and take the patties out of the pan.
