Pumpkin spice lattes – the epidemy of Fall coffee drinks! I always know it’s Fall when Starbucks starts rolling out the pumpkin spice. (Which feels like it’s getting earlier every single year…) Normally I try to hold out until October at the latest before I get my first one, but I just couldn’t do it this year. That and I really wanted to make my own homemade version so obviously I had to get a few to test…for research purposes! And danggg is this recipe a good one! It’s made with simple every day ingredients, takes 5 minutes to make and literally tastes just like Starbucks! I could be biased on this one, but I personally think this is the best Starbucks iced pumpkin spice latte copycat recipe!

Ingredients used to make an iced pumpkin spice latte

Ingredients For Your Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte

  • Espresso: Use your favorite espresso roast for this recipe!
  • Pumpkin puree: You’ll need 1 tablespoon to make one iced latte. (Don’t use pumpkin pie filling!)
  • Maple syrup: Add as little or as much as you want depending on the sweetness level you prefer. (I like 1 tablespoon in mine.)
  • Pumpkin pie spice: A necessity for any pumpkin spice latte!
  • Vanilla extract: You’ll only need a ¼ teaspoon for your latte.
  • Milk: Any type of milk works for this recipe! (Oat milk, almond milk, whole milk, skim, etc.)

How To Make An Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte At Home

1. Brew your espresso. Brew 2 shots (2 ounces) of espresso using your favorite method then set it aside to cool. (It’s not a necessity to cool your espresso – just a personal preference.)

2. Add your pumpkin spice ingredients. Pour your espresso into a glass (I use a large measuring glass) then add your pumpkin puree, maple syrup, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice. Use a milk frothing wand to blend the ingredients together until smooth and foamy.

3. Add your milk. Then add your milk to the glass and swirl it with a spoon or straw. (Alternatively, you can blend all these ingredients together in a small food processor or blender.)

4. Serve! Fill a separate glass with ice cubes and pour your pumpkin spice latte over the ice. Sprinkle a dash of pumpkin pie spice over the top or add whipped cream and serve!

How To Get That “Instagram-Worthy” Shot!

I personally prefer mixing all my ingredients together before pouring them over my ice. (I just thinking they incorporate so much better that way.😉) BUT I get that it doesn’t make for the most “Instagram-able photo”. What fun is that right?! To get that beautiful shot it all comes down to the process you add your ingredients! Follow these steps below:

  1. Brew your espresso.
  2. Add your pumpkin spice ingredients & BLEND!
  3. Add ice into a glass.
  4. Pour your pumpkin spice espresso over the ice.
  5. Pour your milk over the top & swirl it with a straw or spoon.
  6. Top with whipped cream, more pumpkin pie spice & a cinnamon stick!

Tips For Making Your Iced Latte

  • For a sweeter latte – use up to 2 tablespoons of maple syrup per drink. Starbucks version is pretty sweet so if you want an exact replica – definitely use use 2 tablespoons! (I personally prefer 1 tablespoon for mine so it’s not super sweet.)
  • Use blonde espresso roast if you prefer a more mild and balanced flavor.
  • Use dark espresso roast if you prefer a heavier coffee flavor.
  • For more pumpkin spice flavoradd up to a ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice. (I thought a ¼ teaspoon was perfect for mine though!😉)

FAQ’s

  • Will the pumpkin puree make my latte too thick or chunky? Not at all! Just make sure to blend your pumpkin and espresso until they’re super smooth! (It makes your latte so creamy!)
  • Do I have to blend my pumpkin spice ingredients together? Yes! I found blending them is the best way to incorporate the pumpkin so there’s no big chunks of puree. (Mixing with a spoon or whisk just didn’t do the trick.)
  • I don’t have a milk frothing wand! What else can I use? Try blending your espresso and pumpkin spice ingredients in a small food processor – or your can add all your ingredients (including the milk) to a blender instead. (I personally didn’t prefer the blender method because I didn’t like how frothy it made the latte as a whole. Just a personal preference though!)
  • Can I make this latte without an espresso machine? Absolutely! Brew a VERY strong pot of coffee and use about a ⅓ cup of coffee to replace the espresso. Then follow the rest of the recipe as is!

Why you’ll love this pumpkin spice latte recipe!

  • Cheaper than Starbucks! Get your favorite seasonal latte without spending the extra cash! $5 for a drink?! No thank you!
  • Make it the way you want it! Love strong espresso? Brew a darker roast! Want it sweeter? Add more maple syrup! This iced latte recipe is so easy to tailor to your personal preference.
  • Better for you! No thick syrups here! Just simple quality ingredients you can feel good about!
