I’m Caitlin, the fun-loving foodie behind Kalefornia Kravings. First off, thank you so much for stopping by my little section of the internet! (Honestly, I appreciate you all so much!) Second, if there’s anything in specific that you want to see or have questions about, please DON’T HESITATE to ask!! My life is an open book. (Along with my recipes. 😉 )
Soo let’s get to it, shall we? Here’s just a few tidbits that make me, well…me. I’m a born and raised San Diego, Californian. I love travelling and trying new/exotic foods and my idea of cold weather is anything below 70 degrees. I tend to be a little too sarcastic for my own good, I love a good laugh and I’m always down for a family game night! I also love the outdoors and hiking almost as much as I love being in my own kitchen…almost. AND I’m a huge nut butter addict, fuzzy sock hoarder and lover of all things pink… and sparkly. (What can I say, I love being a girl. 😉 )
I was once described by someone as “a pink glazed donut with silver sparkles on top…” If that doesn’t perfectly describe my personality then honey, I don’t know what will.
But my positivity and love of food wasn’t always this way though. When I was in high school I was diagnosed with an eating disorder that pretty much turned my world upside down. I had no clue how to eat or fuel my body correctly and was constantly fearing the dreaded “excess calories & fat.” Thankfully, that all changed one day with a simple guacamole recipe. (I know what you’re thinking…huh?! Keep reading though, I promise it makes sense.) It was for a class project in college where I had to give a “how to” speech on how to perform a specific task and lucky me got stuck with guacamole. I remember being completely baffled when I first read the list of ingredients (at that time guac was considered the devil) but the ingredients I read were just that; ingredients. Simple, to the point, real, raw ingredients. Right then and there it made me realize that if I actually started looking at recipes and tried cooking on my own then these once “fear foods” suddenly became normal, and dare I say it…exciting. And viola – this queen of cookery was suddenly born!
